Abstract

In this poem, the author creatively reflects upon a visit to Cape Coast Castle, Ghana (July 2024).  Written in two parts, the author first imaginatively explores the pain of those being held captive in the dungeons and trafficked across the Atlantic and then contrasts this with a contemporary visit to the Castle as ‘wounded healers,’ with newfound brothers and sisters and a divine hope that conquers death and loss.
